What is the meaning of this?
I found my passion for technology later than most. I had a back injury at my previous place of work, and decided to change careers. I looked into following another trade-style path, but during my research, I was gripped by computer networking. I enrolled in a local college program, and began my studies.
The program was called “Information Technology Administration: Database Administrator”, and focused on IT fundamentals, computer networking, cloud administration, Microsoft server administration, and SQL database administration. I spent my time after classes completing labs, and assisting other students with their studies. I acquired EOL Cisco networking gear to get as much hands on experience as I could, and I worked hard to ensure that I was ready for the workplace.
After school, I continued my learning with a deep passion for understanding and administering these technologies to the best of my ability. Since school ended in July 2023, I have obtained my CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications. I have continued my learning in Linux, Microsoft Azure, Cisco networking, and cybersecurity.
I am currently working as a Network Support Technician in NOC at a local service provider for internet (Fiber, Coax, DSL, LTE) phone (VoIP, POTS) and television (IPTV). I handle phone calls and manage trouble tickets from customers regarding service related troubles, I complete service orders for new installs or upgrades, and provision our switches and other networking equipment accordingly.
I have created this website to share things that I learn along the way. IT is a career in which you can never run out of new and exciting things to learn. I enjoy continuously learning, so this website will serve as a knowledge base for myself, and anyone else who decides to visit.
